what   is   praising  through   recovery?

Praising Through Recovery (PTR) is an outreach ministry and organization providing spiritual and recovery support to adults seeking to overcome their dependency on drugs and alcohol.
  • PTR provides education, guidance, encouragement and assistance to families, employers, congregations, and communities of individuals with substance use disorder.
  • PTR is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization founded in November 2007 and incorporated and determined as a nonprofit in March 2009.
  • PTR operated residential recovery programs in Baltimore City and Harford County, MD for more than 10 years.  In our transitional recovery homes, PTR provided structure, love, education, food, clothing, professional counseling, and life skills to more than 300 clients.
  • PTR’s new “Next Level Recovery” mentorship program for women in recovery is enrolling now and launching in January 2023.  This program will allow PTR to broaden their impact with not just the women of Baltimore City but with all women across the state of Maryland and abroad.
  • The goal of the “Next Level Recovery” program is not only to strengthen individual women for long-term recovery, but also to empower, inspire, and change the overall perspective with who they are and whose they are while growing an amazing sisterhood of women to be equipped to pass on what they have learned and experienced to be of service to others.
  • All of PTR Senior Mentors are qualified, licensed, certified, and equipped professionals in their areas of expertise.
  • PTR’s board of directors, mentors, staff, and volunteers are all committed to the cause of combating drug/alcohol addiction.

Through Praising Through Recovery's very effective bridge building and personal interest in serving others, we have dedicated our hearts, time, and personal stories by mentoring, educating, empowering, and inspiring all to move forward to a new way of living.  Praising Through Recovery utilizes its faith-based principles along with the 12-steps to accomplish these goals.  It is also Praising Through Recovery's hope to build bridges to other faith-based and corporate communities on the important and necessary reliance of those in recovery, as we continue to break the stigma and marginalization of those with a history of substance use disorders (SUD).

Under the leadership of our very qualified Founder and Executive Director, Lisa Bryson, Praising Through Recovery's professional experiences  have spanned across the United States and the world as her personal story of despair, hopelessness, and miraculous transformation have captured the hearts of hundreds of thousands, shouting loud and clear "WE DO RECOVER!"

Because of Lisa's effective teachings and daily living of her faith and the 12-Steps, Praising Through Recovery will now be expanding its  mentorship services to ALL WOMEN.  Lisa has shattered the glass by mentoring women through the 12-Steps with no substance use disorders.  These women have flourished in their personal and business lives through these powerful and intimate small groups.  It is the hope of Praising Through Recovery to build a network of women who will pass on what they have learned and experienced to help serve others.

We at Praising Through Recovery are excited and blessed to be of service to those who are looking to live new and improved lives in recovery from the disease of substance use disorders.

"Whom the Son of Man sets free is free indeed."
St. John 8:36

PTR'S History
PTR was founded by our Executive Director, Lisa Bryson in 2007 after she was brought out of the fog of a 20-year long heroin and crack cocaine addiction. She knew there had to be a better way of life, but couldn't find it on her own.  Only by the grace of God, drug detoxification, rehabilitation, and transitional living was she able to escape from her old lifestyle and start a recovery process that has transformed her heart and life.  She has now dedicated her life to helping others who are looking for a way out.

PTR was incorporated and established as a non-profit 501(c) 3 in March 2009. As a result of this journey the Trinity Recovery House for Men and Covered Bridge Recovery House for Women were birthed.  These homes remained opened for 10 years and served well over 300 men and women allowing them a tremendous opportunity for a new and successful way of living clean and sober.  With a 75% success rate with the in-house facilities and a 50% success rate with the out-patient services. we offered structure, love, education, and life skills to all we served.  The success of our programs were based on the clients remaining clean and sober through their entire process, working part-time/full-time, attending meetings, obtaining a sponsor, reconnecting with family, and becoming active and productive members of society.  While we were very proud of our success with transitional housing, God had other plans.  In March of 2022 we graduated our last remaining clients and made the decision to expand our services outside of the confines of the four walls.
History is now being made as Praising Through Recovery steps out of the box, crossing the divides and crushing the stigmas attached to those with substance use disorders.
